New baby

Instead of talking about my trip (which I promised to post yesterday...but didn't) I want to introduce you to a new addition to our family.  OK, not our family, but our extended family.  My brother-in-law and his wife had their first child last Thursday.  Since we don't want any kids, it's a good opportunity to get a big whiff of 'new baby smell' and pass her back to her mom.
This is Madeline.  She was 6 lbs., 2 ozs.  And I don't know much else.  Because despite my talents for writing, I am no reporter.  Or at least, that's what Brad consistently tells me.  I never ask the right questions.  Ever.
"Did you talk to the plumber?"
"Yes."
"Is he coming?"
"Yes."
"When?"
"I don't know, I didn't ask."
"How much will it cost?"
me: *blank stare.*
Brad:  facepalm.
Typical conversation in my house.  So, no, I don't know how long she is or any other statistic type stuff that people usually pass along.  She has dark blue eyes and a head full of blonde hair (and I know that because I could see it).
She has a tiny little cry that makes me sad more than anything else.  It doesn't grate on the nerves the way most babies do.
And apparently, Brad makes this face every time someone hands him a child.

    ha! You're too funny!

I don't usually ask the right questions either, and I've been called insensitive. :/ Oh well, I'm just not on that same wave length.

Your husband's expression is hilarious! It's like "ok, what the heck do I do now?"

  2. I get made fun of because I don't ask questions. I prefer to listen but my conversations usually end quickly because I don't talk.

  3. So cute! I have 2 children, and still don't like to hold babies, I have to say! I like to look at them from afar!

  4. Oh my gosh, this makes me laugh so hard. I think all men make that face, it's universal.
