Finally finished

Do you remember when I was working on my deck?
No?
Really? Because it was sooooooo long ago, back before I even had any readers?
Hmm.
Well, OK, go read it and then come back. (Well, technically, that post isn't from that long ago, but trust me, the painting photos are really old!)

OK, all caught up now?
Good.
Because we finally painted the rest of the deck and the pergola this past weekend.
In 100+ degree weather.
Because I'm impatient like that.
And we are having a birthday party next weekend. (Yes, mine [and like 7 others] but I'm turning 30, don't want to talk about it).
So I wanted the deck to be finished.

The railing is a solid stain color called "Pinto White," and looks a lot creamier on the swatch than it does on the wood. The top of the deck and pergola are "Cordovan Brown" in a semi-transparent color.

The brown matches the house trim nicely and the white gives it an elegant feel. (But was a pain in the ass to keep the colors off of each other.)

And here is our seating area. And if you look closely, you will see some drips that still need to be cleaned up. And if you look really, really closely, you can see where Brad got frustrated and slapped the pad full of brown color at the top of the white column.
Humph.

Brad was 'in charge' of getting the tiny pad in between the small slats of the pergola.
As you can see, he dripped it a lot, making a big mess of the deck, requiring us to cover it with 3 coats so that you can't see the dots.

I, on the other hand, got it all over myself. Because I'm awesome like that. I'm sort of trying to point at the spot I got on my head.

I think the mirror/phone thing got me confused.
Let's just all agree that I look stupid and should not be allowed to try to take any more self-portraits.
Good?
Good.

  1. You're not allowed to take self portraits anymore... but you're also not allowed do "need to lose weight" post anymore either. :-)

The deck looks fantastic! I hope no people actually melt to it this weekend. That would just ruin the stain.

  3. It looks fantastic! And I'm sure it's a great feeling to have that project checked off the list. I hope you get some cooler weather so you can sit outside comfortably and enjoy the fruits of your labors.

  4. Ugh, we had to stain the deck at our old house before we put it up for sale and it was sooooo freakin' hot that day. I just about passed out.

Good job though, it looks great!
